Online Spellchecker for Luxembourgish

Usage Instructions

Input of Text to be Checked

Type or copy/paste the text to be checked in the appropriate text field on the left. Then, click on the button "Check the Text".

Result of the Spellchecking

After your click on the "Check Text" button, your browser will display a new page with, either the results of the spellchecking, or an error message.

In the first case, there was no problem and you will see your original text spellchecked. The words that are currently not in our dictionary will be displayed in red whereas those that are will be displayed in black. Your spellchecked text is followed by the list of words that were not recognized, each word of this list being followed by a list of alternatives. If the list of not recognized words spans beyond the lower border of the browser window, you can click on a not recognized word in your spellchecked text. The browser will then position its window on the list of alternatives to this word. You may click on any button of a line to select an alternative to the word at the beginning of the line. More precisely, you may:

  • Ignore the suggestions of the spellchecker. If you choose to ignore the suggestions of the spellchecker, the word´s color changes to green and it is considered to be correctly spelled (only this specific occurrence of the word on this specific web page). You might envisage to select this item if you are sure that a word is correctly spelled but the spellchecker did not find it in its dictionary.
  • Select a suggestion of the spellchecker. If you choose to select a suggestion of the spellchecker, the red word is replaced by the selected alternative. The new word is displayed in green and is, of course, considered to be correctly spelled.

In the last case, our spellchecker server probably is not running. Please don´t forget that CORTINA is an ongoing project and that we are continually improving the spellchecker (hopefully). Try the demonstrator again later.

Furthermore, take into account that our dictionary is still limited to ±100,000 words.
